It was reported the other day that nurses and other health care professionals in Scotland are being instructed to avoid using the terms 'mum', 'dad', 'husband', 'wife' and 'marriage' in talking to patients and their … er … people who are with them, because such terms exclude lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
Scotland's leading homosexual activist organization, Stonewall Scotland, has produced a booklet for the Scottish health service entitled "Fair For All - The Wider Challenge: Good LGBT Practice in the NHS". It calls for a "zero-tolerance policy to discriminatory language". Included in discriminatory language is the use of terms that assume a traditional family structure of mother, father and children.
"Individual circumstances lead to varied family structures and parenting arrangements" it says. "It is important to be aware of this … consider using 'parents', 'carers' or 'guardians' rather than 'mother' or 'father'".
The booklet was funded by taxpayers through the NHS Education for Scotland, as part of the Equality and Diversity program.

Of course this is not the first time that gay people in Scotland have tried - successfully, it seems - to force their own world view on the majority. Last June it was reported that the Scottish government was considering recommendations that primary school children should be given "anti-homophobia" classes. Researchers from Edinburgh University had questioned children about their sexual orientation, and two 12-year-olds had said they were homosexual while another eight said they were "gay, lesbian, bisexual or questioning."
It's amazing, isn't it? You'd have thought, particularly in the current climate, that adults interrogating children about sex would pretty soon be arrested. But not in Scotland, apparently. In Scotland they not only let them get on with it, they actually take their results seriously right up to government level.
Even before that, in May last year, The Scotsman was reporting that a new set of official guidelines for schools would require teachers to instruct children how to engage in "safe" homosexual sex. The new material was to include information on male and female condoms for protection against sexually transmitted diseases, advice on the "emotional" side of homosexual relationships, and contact information for homosexual health services and support groups. Laws preventing the promotion of homosexuality in Scotland's schools were overturned in 2000, despite strong opposition from the public and churches. A referendum conducted by a group opposed to the law change questioned over one million voters and more than 85% were opposed to the change, but officials insisted that existing guidelines were "heterosexist" and did not reflect the current social climate - as defined by them, of course, not the current social climate as represented by 85% of the population.
This is all rather alarming, frankly. Given the fact that the United Kingdom is presently ruled by the Jockanese mafia and that Scottish MPs can vote on English legislation, it's not unreasonable to expect that what happens north of the border today will apply to the rest of us soon enough.
And the worst of it is that once again the majority of us will be discriminated against, yet if we dare to complain or criticise it will be us that are guilty of discrimination - rather like the good people of Nottingham (well, the dead ones anyway) who will be buried in alignment with Mecca but have been threatened by the police that if they complain they could be guilty of inciting racial hatred.
Ho hum. It's no fun being in the majority these days. The GOS is thinking of starting his own religion. Then they'll have to take some notice of him, so long as not too many people join.
